Eurocine's nasal HIV vaccine

In the literature a number of scientific papers describe vaccine trials on humans using DNA-plasmids expressing HIV antigens with positive results. The majority of these results are gained after parenteral injection.

Eurocine has taken advantage of its proprietory technology to develop nasal formulations of DNA-plasmids expressing HIV antigens. Positive results are seen in animal models.

These are over 10 different strains of HIV. After injection no, or very limited, cross protection between strains is seen. Consequently, a vaccine developed for a specific region (where one strain may be dominating), does not result in optimal protection when used in another area.

In animal experiments we have shown that after nasal immunization, the Eurocine HIV vaccine give rise to cross protection against other strains.
Furthermore, we have shown that we can reduce the dose of DNA up to 100 times while retaining immunological effect.
